Just a quick update
Tuesday, November 27th, 2007If you are also looking for easily accessible information about all kinds of different aspects of e-learning, try the journal “Technology & Society”. Another good address is the Human Technology page, a journal on humans in ICT environments.
In a few discussions with Chip Bruce, who is currently at NCI as a Fulbright scholar, I learned about the concept of media ecology, which I find very important. I found a few more articles on the concept. If the concept of appropriating technology sounds interesting to you, the linked page might be a good starting point for reading. A good introduction into “The Intrinsic Quality of Experience” is provided on the linked JSTOR page.
Now for something completely different… Up2UML aims to develop new content and training material for UML2; develop syllabi for different target groups and develop innovative training concepts. But some people are already discussing UML3. The Up2UML project is still developing its license model to survive the project end…. Working on that I found a few pages, probably pretty much standard - list is definately incomplete. If licences are your topic, this mainly German page might be helpful: ifrOSS. The content is mostly German, but they have an English page called license center. Just select [Lizenzen] in the left navigation and then click on the link “English version” on the top of the page. Then there is of course the Creative Commons page. The open courseware consortium might give you some inspiration, as well as the MuSoft project, which seems quite similar to our project in some aspects.
I eventually got sidetracked and found some really neat open content sites. This collection of open e-learning content repositories is a true treasure chest full of good examples. If you are looking for a book to read, try the Gutenberg project page with free ebooks. Speaking of ebooks: got some spare time and expertise? The book “Social Media in Education” is written online as a collaborative project.
